Bruno Huber, General Manager of Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh, shared:
“We are truly honored to receive the Green Globe Certification, which stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of every team member at Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh toward sustainable practices. From reducing kitchen waste through advanced AI solutions to actively engaging in community development programs, this certification reinforces our ongoing commitment to social well-being and environmental protection. It is more than just an award — it is recognition of our collective efforts to build a greener and more responsible future for our community and our planet.”
Nestled amid lush tropical gardens along a 17-kilometer stretch of white sandy beach, Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh is one of the gems of Vietnam’s magnificent coastline. Overlooking the pristine Long Beach (Bai Dai), the resort has been leading numerous eco-friendly initiatives. Its proactive commitment to sustainability is reflected in its food and beverage operations and in its strong support for local sourcing and distribution. The resort has also integrated AI technology through the WINNOW system to minimize food waste. WINNOW, a waste management platform implemented across all resort outlets, monitors food waste and provides valuable insights. Monthly data collection allows chefs to plan long-term adjustments to reduce both waste and operational costs.
Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh’s holistic green approach encompasses strong commitments to both environmental and social well-being. The complete elimination of single-use plastics is part of Accor’s sustainability vision — a pioneering move in Vietnam. According to the World Bank, an estimated 3.1 million tons of plastic waste are discharged on land each year in Vietnam, with at least ten percent ending up in the ocean. To help address this issue, the resort spearheaded a community cleanup campaign in June, together with other hotels in Cam Ranh, as part of the “End Plastic Soup” initiative. Employees collected plastic waste scattered along Bai Dai Beach in Khanh Hoa and in several areas of Khanh Son District. At Bai Dai alone, volunteers from hotels, the Rotary Club of Vietnam, and local schools gathered approximately 1.5 tons of plastic.
Resort employees eagerly participate in social and community engagement activities. The DuoDay program, first launched in France on November 17, 2022, is a national initiative supported by the French government. Accor is proudly committed to this meaningful event, during which volunteers known as Heartists® share their work and mission with people with disabilities who wish to explore the world of Accor. Being a Heartist® means working with heart and passion.
In May last year, Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh hosted a DuoDay experience for children with disabilities from the Hope Social Center in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa. The children toured the resort and joined staff in hands-on activities such as pancake making, painting, and exploring the property, ending their day with a specially prepared lunch.
The Kilo of Kindness campaign by Mövenpick celebrates the United Nations International Day of Charity and has been running for eight consecutive years. Held every October, the initiative encourages responsible and compassionate actions across Mövenpick hotels and resorts worldwide. Employees donate food, toys, school supplies, and clothing for children and families in need. Last year alone, 2,973 kilograms of essential items were collected and distributed to local community groups.
Each year, the resort also selects fifty underprivileged students from local schools to take part in its Christmas Wish Tree initiative. The children write down their wishes for Christmas, which are then hung on the resort’s Wish Tree at the hotel’s charity booth during the Christmas Market. Guests can purchase handcrafted items and contribute to making the children’s wishes come true.
In December last year, students from Cam An Nam Primary School were invited to the resort, where Santa Claus personally presented them with special gifts. In return, the students shared heartfelt drawings expressing their gratitude for the kindness and generosity they received from the resort’s team.
